Why are there wet spots on my candles?

You might notice some weird spots on your candle container.

These are called “wet spots” and are caused by shrinkage and air bubbles that occur as the wax is cooling inside the candle container.

What happens is that part of the wax pulls away from the glassware and sticks to the container.

It is common with paraffin wax, but can also occur with soy wax.

It does not affect the burn-ability of your candle, but can be avoided.

If you want to avoid candle wet spots, you should:

- Wash your candle glass container with soapy water and dry it before using.

- Make sure the room where the wax is cooling is not too cold.

- Pre-heat the glassware before pouring.

- Wait for the melted wax to cool down to 60°C (use a thermometer).

- Pour the wax more slowly into the container.

- Tap the glassware gently right after you've poured the wax to release air bubbles.

- Try using another wax.
